What is Exile?
We exist to create a safe space for people who feel disconnected from the traditional church but are still seeking to engage in a spiritual journey with Jesus and others.
Exile is a space for people who still believe… it’s for those who have not walked away from faith — but have, for one reason or another, found themselves at a distance from traditional expressions of church.
Many believers today find themselves spiritually engaged yet institutionally displaced — holding onto faith while wrestling with disillusionment, woundedness, complexity, and the realities of everyday life. Exile exists to meet people in that space.
Rather than functioning as a traditional church, Exile provides a relational and reflective environment focused on spiritual formation, honest conversation, and lived discipleship. Through weekly content, community engagement, and guided discussions, participants are invited to rediscover what it means to follow Jesus in the real world.
A core component of the community is its emphasis on dignity and care. Through a recurring “Spotlight” initiative, Exile highlights individual stories and mobilizes the community to provide prayer, encouragement, and, when appropriate, tangible support. This approach reflects a commitment to embodied faith — one that is not only discussed but practiced.
Exile is designed to grow organically, prioritizing depth over scale. Its long-term vision includes small-group gatherings, both online and in-person, that foster meaningful relationships and spiritual growth without the constraints of traditional institutional models.
At its core, Exile is a space for those who still believe — and are seeking to live out that belief with honesty, depth, and community.
But, it’s also for people who don’t believe and have questions.
A Different Kind of Space
Exile is not a traditional church. It’s not built around attendance, programs, or performance. Instead, it’s a space for:
- Honest conversation
- Spiritual formation
- Shared stories
- Quiet reflection
- Meaningful connection
Following Jesus in the Real World
We believe that following Jesus is not simple or programmatic. It’s a lifelong process — one that unfolds in the middle of:
- careers
- families
- doubt
- failure
- growth
- and everyday life
This process has historically been called sanctification — the gradual shaping of our lives to reflect Jesus.
Exile is a place to walk through that process together.
You Are Not Alone
One of the most common experiences people carry is this: “I thought I was the only one who felt this way.”
You’re not. There are many who still hold onto faith — even when they no longer feel at home where they once did. Exile brings those people into a shared space.
An Invitation
Exile is not for everyone. But if you:
- have questions
- still believe
- still wrestle
- still hope
- and are trying to understand what it means to follow Jesus in the real world
…then you are welcome here.
